Collier County Permit Search Guide
Collier County permit search is not just one simple lookup. Current records, historical records, open permits, city records, inspection results, plan-review conditions and property-appraiser permit references may live in different official tools.
Use this practical workstation before buying property, closing a sale, remodeling, checking a contractor, applying online, resolving an old permit, or confirming whether a permit is finaled instead of only issued.
Start here before using Collier County permit search
For Collier County permit research, the first question is not “what is the permit number?” The first question is “which record system and jurisdiction should I search?” Collier’s own permit-history page separates records into 2011-present CityView, 1989-2011 CD-Plus, and pre-1989 Property Appraiser records.
Search 2011-present records in the GMCD Public Portal first. If the work is older, check CD-Plus and Property Appraiser records. If the property is in Naples, Marco Island, Everglades City or another city, search that city building department too.

Address, permit number, old permit, pre-1989 record, open-permit issue or city jurisdiction.
Use Search for a Property at the top of the CityView portal. This is the main route for 2011-present Collier County permit history by property/address.
Use the CityView portal and choose Status and Fees under the application group. Enter the permit number exactly as printed on the permit card, inspection request, contractor document or closing file.
Use CD-Plus only for 1989-2011 reference records. Collier warns large portions of CD-Plus data are not current, so verify closure in the Public Portal when possible.
For pre-1989 permits, open the Property Appraiser, search the property, then check the Detail tab. Collier says permit numbers may appear there, and missing CO Date can indicate an open permit.
Gather the permit record, request file documents if needed, check fees, inspections and conditions, then contact Building Permit Resolution Services for open or expired permit guidance.
If the property is inside City of Naples, Marco Island, Everglades City or another municipal building jurisdiction, search that city portal too. County records may not show all city permits.
Collier County permit search plan tool
Use this quick task-desk before opening official portals. It helps avoid weak searches and wrong-jurisdiction mistakes.
Open CityView and use Search for a Property. Try clean address formats and avoid extra punctuation.
Use Status and Fees. Enter the exact permit number. If the number starts with CDP, verify through CityView when possible.
Use External CD-Plus for reference, then confirm current closure status in the Public Portal.
Search the Collier Property Appraiser record and inspect the Detail tab for permit numbers and CO Date.
Check current records, historical records, city portals, inspection status, CO/final status and open-permit risk.
Gather record files, property card, inspections, fees and conditions before contacting BPRS.
Search 2011-present Collier County permits in CityView
Collier County says 2011-present permits can be searched by address through Search for a Property at the top of the portal, or by permit number using Status and Fees under the application group.
Open the GMCD Public Portal
Start with the official CityView portal. If the portal asks for captcha, complete it and enter the portal before searching.
Choose address or permit number
Use property/address search when you know the location. Use permit number search when you have a permit card, contractor file, inspection record or closing document.
Read the record carefully
Check applicant, contractor, permit type, description, status, conditions, fees, inspection results and final/CO status. Do not rely only on the issue date.
No result can mean wrong address format, city jurisdiction, older CD-Plus record, pre-1989 record, parcel mismatch, or a permit under another application group.
Search 1989-2011 Collier County permit history
For 1989 to 2011 records, Collier links External CD-Plus Search. But the county warns this tool should only be used for reference, only generates permits between 1989 and 2011, and large portions of data are not current.
Open External CD-Plus
Choose the Building Review and Permitting option. Search by available permit or property details.
Do not stop at CD-Plus
If CD-Plus shows a permit, verify whether it is closed in the current Public Portal. Collier says CDP may appear before the permit number, for example CDP123456789.
Old permit data can be incomplete. For sale, insurance, refinancing or legal due diligence, request official records and verify status with the county or the relevant building department.
Search pre-1989 Collier County permit references
For records before 1989, Collier points users to the Collier County Property Appraiser. Search the property, open the Detail tab and look for permit numbers. Collier notes permit numbers may read like year applied plus permit number.
Open the Property Appraiser
Search by owner, site address, parcel or other property search option. Then review the Detail tab and Cards tab where relevant.
Check CO Date and documents
Collier says if there is no date in the CO Date column, the permit is open. Permit documents can be obtained through a public records request.
Open permit risk checker for buyers, sellers and agents
Collier specifically notes a historical permit review may be done during a property sale because open permits may impact the sale. The Clerk also warns the job is not finished until final inspection occurs and the permit is closed.
Open status
Any status other than closed-type statuses may need action before sale or title review.
No CO date
For old records, missing CO Date can signal open permit risk.
Issued only
Issued does not mean complete. Look for final inspection, CO, CC or closed result.
Old contractor work
Roof, HVAC, pool, electrical, plumbing or remodeling work deserves deeper review.
Gather the record first
Collect permit number, property card, applicant, contractor, description, status, conditions, fees and inspection history.
Use BPRS for resolution
Collier’s Building Permit Resolution Services assists property owners, contractors, title companies, real estate companies and prospective buyers with open and expired permit issues.
For older permit files, Collier says you may need to request permit records from the Records Room and request a property card from the Property Appraiser before contacting BPRS.
Check or schedule Collier County building inspections
Inspection status matters because a permit is not complete just because it was issued. Collier lists email, phone and CityView routes for inspection scheduling and cancellation.
Inspection Desk
Email inspections@collier.gov for inspection desk support.
Inspection Desk
Call 239-252-2406 for inspection help during regular routing.
Voice Permit System
Call 239-252-3726 after hours for IVR scheduling, cancellation or results.
CityView
Use Status and Fees with permit number or address in the portal.
For buying, refinancing or insurance, look for finaled, CO/CC, closed or other completion signal. If unclear, ask the county or city building department before relying on the record.
Collier County or city permit portal?
Collier County is not the only building authority inside Collier County, Florida. If the property is inside a city, the city building department may have its own permitting portal, inspection records and forms.
Use Collier County GMCD Public Portal, County permitting resources and BPRS when needed.
Use the City of Naples public portal for electronic permitting, permit status and permit search.
Use the City of Marco Island Civic Access permitting portal for city permits.
Review county/city interlocal and city-specific permit direction where applicable.
If seller documents and county search do not match, check city records and request official permit files.
Do not accept contractor statements alone. Match permit number, address, scope, inspections and status.
Apply online or upload permit documents
Collier says registered portal users can upload forms to satisfy conditions through the GMCD Public Portal, and that electronic submittal is used for applications and supporting documents. The Clerk also notes applicants must use the Growth Management Online Portal to apply and upload forms.
Read e-permitting help first
Before uploading documents, check the e-permitting help page, document submittal requirements and portal guide.
Use the GMCD Public Portal
Apply, upload documents, resolve conditions and track applications through the official portal. Processing documents may take 24-48 hours after submission according to Collier/Clerk guidance.
Requirements can differ for contractors, design professionals, agents and qualifying owner-builders. Always read the official permit application requirements before uploading documents or paying fees.
Official Collier portal video
Collier’s own “How to Use the GMCD Portal” page references this registration video. Use it only as portal orientation, then rely on official portal pages for final action.

Use these official links for final permit search, applications, inspections, open permit resolution, historical permit lookup and city jurisdiction checks.
Important permit-search notice
CountyPermitSearch.org is an independent guide, not the official Collier County, Florida website.
Only Collier County Growth Management, Building Plan Review & Inspection, BPRS, the official city building department, inspector, plan reviewer, contractor licensing office or code office can confirm whether a permit is required, valid, finaled, closed, expired, open or approved.
Do not submit permit applications, payments, owner documents, contractor documents, plans, IDs or legal documents to an independent guide page. Use official government portals only.
